EOS (Electro-Optical Systems) is a global technology leader for industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers. Founded in 1989, the company is a pioneer and innovator for holistic solutions in additive manufacturing with a particular focus on the interaction of laser and powder material.

Additionally, EOS provides all essential elements for industrial 3D printing such as systems, materials and process parameters that are intelligently harmonized to ensure a reliable high quality of parts and thus facilitating a decisive competitive edge.[1]

The company was founded in 1989 and is based in Munich, Germany.[2]

 

Financial Outlook and Market

During the 2015 business year, EOS was able to increase its sales revenues by 53 percent over the previous year, to EUR 263 million. All regions exceeded its targets – especially North America delivered a record result with more than USD 100 million in sales revenues.

In 2015, EOS had 750 employees worldwide, which represents an increase of 38 percent in its global workforce compared to the previous year (2016). During that time, key positions were filled around the globe to provide even better support for customers on their way to additive series manufacturing.

This enormous growth is reflected in the fact that individual locations are also experiencing steady growth. At its Krailling headquarters, EOS recently started the construction of another building, since the technology and customer centre, which started up just last year, is already reaching the limits of its capacities.

With the new facility measuring 9,000 square meters, EOS is boosting its production capacity in 2018 and is now capable of manufacturing up to approximately 1,000 systems per year. The move enables EOS to meet the growing demand for its systems, which it is now producing on an industrial scale.[3]

Abstract The coating unit has coating elements spaced from one another in direction and extended in direction transverse to direction so as to form receiving space for powdered building material (15). An intermediate wall is spaced apart between coating elements in direction from coating elements and extended in direction transverse to direction. The receiving space is divided into two chambers. The coating unit is adapted to receive building material in chamber following in respective movement direction depending on movement of coating unit in direction or in its counter-direction.

Abstract Manufacturing three-dimensional object by layer-wise applying and selectively solidifying a building material, comprises applying a layer of the building material on a building site in a process chamber, selectively solidifying the locations of the applied layer corresponding to the cross-section of the object by action of radiation, repeating the steps of applying and selectively solidifying until the three-dimensional object is finished. A hollow body is arranged in the process chamber above the building site.
